Exactech Announces Successful First Shoulder Surgeries Using Comprehensive Trauma Shoulder Plates

Thursday, June 13, 2024

Exactech, a leading global medical technology company, has introduced the Equinoxe® PHx™ System, which received FDA 510(k) clearance in September 2023.

This system represents a significant advancement in shoulder trauma care by providing a proximal humerus locking plate system designed to address various fractures, allowing surgeons to customize treatments for individual patient needs.

The PHx System includes 20 plates and features the innovative Exac-Loc™ Screws. These screws utilize patented technology with deployable and retractable talons, enhancing fracture stabilization by increasing the fixation surface area within the proximal humeral bone.

The system's goal to surpass existing limitations, offering numerous options tailored to each patient's unique anatomy, bone quality, fracture type, and lifestyle.

M.D., from Schulthess Clinic Zurich and Charite University, presented the modernized implant designs, including additional calcar screw options and innovative configurations, at the Paris International Shoulder Course (PISC) earlier this year.

The PHx System expands Exactech's Equinoxe Shoulder System, enabling smooth transitions from primary shoulder procedures to complex reconstructions without requiring stem removal.

Pointed out the system's enhancements, such as the "Victory" plate for tuberosity fixation, a small-profile plate for the greater tuberosity, and talon technology designed to minimize head settling.

Developed by a team of prominent trauma and shoulder specialists, The PHx System is designed to optimize anatomic fixation for securing proximal humerus fractures.

Every component of this next-generation system was meticulously designed to assist orthopedic surgeons in achieving precise anatomical reconstruction for a broad range of proximal humeral fracture patterns across diverse patient anatomies.
